About Freckles & Frills Learning Center
History
Freckles & Frills was established in 1977 as a nursery school for children from 3 to 5 years of age with a maximum capacity for 20 children. Today, the Center has grown into a full service child care center. Freckles & Frills is licensed by the Department of Public Welfare, the Department of Education and is a Keystone Stars designated site. The Center provides high quality child care to families with children ranging from 6 weeks to 12 years old. Over the years, Freckles and Frills has continued to grow and has established a strong reputation as one of the premiere early childhood education centers in the greater city of Scranton.
Philosophy Statement
Young children learn best when they feel safe and loved. It is the role of caregivers to support the children in their learning, intellectually stimulate them, and guide them in the right direction. A supportive learning environment for young children includes age appropriate supplies and equipment, and active adult involvement in a child-safe area. Materials available for children should be intellectually, emotionally, and physically stimulating and suitable for their particular stage of development. The role of family in children’s learning is a key element to the child’s success.

We achieve this goal by way of our professional and supported staff, and by providing a loving and child-safe environment which allows children to reach their full potential. We believe that in partnering with families, we help to build the foundation so that our children grow up to become confident, competent and successful individuals.
